Each year on March 27th, Philadelphia comes alive with the vibrant celebration of PHILLY Flag Day, marking the anniversary of the Philadelphia Civic Flag — the first official city flag in America.

This day is a cornerstone of civic pride and an opportunity for all Philadelphians to come together to celebrate our Philly Flag of UNITY, our city's rich history, and our bright future as ONE PHILLY!

Celebrations, Ceremonies, and More

PHILLY Flag Day is a ‘Philly-centric’ day filled with festivities, community gatherings, and educational activities designed to honor everything GOOD about our city while promoting the values of brotherly love and unity that our flag represents.

Events Include:

  • Philadephia Maneto Citizens March: Gather with fellow citizens in LOVE PARK to march to the event location in UNITY! Choose one of the four Philly Flag Banners, representing the flag’s symbols, to march behind and help us bring the Philadelphia Maneto Spirit to the Opening of the celebration.
  • PHILLY-Centric Performances: This city has so much remarkable talent! This is a real PHILADELPHIA DAY to experience that Philly Flag in unity.
  • Cultural Performances: Enjoy performances by the vast and varied talent in our PHILLY-ethnic communities.
  • Presentation of the Four Philadelphia Maneto Awards: one for PEACE / one for HOPE / one for JUSTICE / and one for PROSPERITY
  • Flag Raising Ceremonies: Witness the grandeur of the Philadelphia Civic Flag being hoisted across various historical sites and public buildings.
  • Community Parades: Join neighbors and friends in a festive parade featuring local bands, dance troupes, and community organizations.
  • Educational "GET FLAGGED" Workshops: Learn about the story / history of the Philadelphia Civic Flag and its significance in various workshops and presentations throughout the city.

PHILLY Flag Day not only commemorates the history of our flag but also reinforces the ongoing relevance of its message — "Philadelphia Maneto" or "Let Brotherly Love Continue."
