Each year on March 27th, Philadelphia comes alive with the vibrant celebration of PHILLY Flag Day, marking the anniversary of the Philadelphia Civic Flag — the first official city flag in America.
This day is a cornerstone of civic pride and an opportunity for all Philadelphians to come together to celebrate our Philly Flag of UNITY, our city's rich history, and our bright future as ONE PHILLY!
On Friday, March 27, 2026, the City of Philadelphia, through Partners for Civic Pride (PFCP), hosted “Philly Flag Day 2026: 250th Philly Flag Raising”, a landmark civic celebration honoring Philadelphia’s historic flag and the values it represents.
A highlight of this year’s Flag Day Celebration was the recognition of H. Chase Lenfest for his leadership and commitment to strengthening Philadelphia communities.
As founder of North10 Philadelphia, Lenfest was honored for advancing his “Pride of Place” vision — a community-centered model transforming the Hunting Park–East Tioga neighborhood through investments in safety, education, health, and economic opportunity.
This year’s celebration featured an inspiring lineup honoring Philadelphia’s history, culture, and civic pride, including the official proclamation reading, ceremonial raising of the “Philly Flag 250,” recognition of H. Chase Lenfest, performances by Rose Scott and the “Philly Flag Jazz Guys,” youth presentations, appearances by the Frankford Army JROTC Cadets, and a special featured moment from the “Philly Pride Lady.”
PHILLY Flag Day is a ‘Philly-centric’ day filled with festivities, community gatherings, and educational activities designed to honor everything GOOD about our city while promoting the values of brotherly love and unity that our flag represents.
PHILLY Flag Day not only commemorates the history of our flag but also reinforces the ongoing relevance of its message — "Philadelphia Maneto" or "Let Brotherly Love Continue."
It’s a day to reflect on our collective identity and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals that define us as Philadelphians.
Mark your calendars and be a part of this special celebration. PHILLY Flag Day is more than just an event; it's a testament to the enduring spirit of Philadelphia.
We look forward to seeing you there and making this year’s celebration one to remember!
